Alan hadn’t worked for three months after leaving his previous job due to personal circumstances and moving to Yeovil. He wasn’t very confident, had no phone, but was keen to get back into work.
Our Employment Services applied to the Tesco Mobile Reconnects scheme for a smart phone with a three-month prepaid sim for Alan. He got the phone within a week, and this helped him access/write emails and carry out job searches. The team also helped update his CV – and the first job he applied for, he was successful with. Previously he’d not even reached interview stage.
Alan is now a grasscutter at South Somerset District Council.
He said: “If I didn't have you lot in my life, I don't think I would be here now. I felt so low and so run down there was no hope for me. Then I met you and you brought me back and now I am working I can't thank you enough. I think what you do is absolutely amazing.”
