My name is Shelley and I’m a full time mum living in Slough and have been looking for work for a while now. I spend a lot of time with my daughter when she’s not at school. We enjoy watching movies, listening to music, going to the park where she can ride her bike or scooter, or just going out exploring. When she’s not with me, I like spending time listening to music or watching movies, catching up with my friends or going out.
I was unemployed and the job centre told me about how Abri Employment Services were running an Abri Work Academy (AWA) that could help me prepare for an interview and job with Legoland. I signed up, did the training and met some amazing people along the way.
I needed to find a job that worked around my family commitments to my daughter, and it was challenging trying to find somewhere that could accommodate me working around school hours. It has taken me four years of searching, applying and being turned down for jobs due to needing school hours, but Abri really helped and supported me so that this time I was successful.
Abri’s Employment Service are an amazing team, they are so friendly, so kind, helpful, honestly the list goes on. They really worked closely with everyone including myself to help me gain an interview with Legoland. They helped me with mock interviews to practise my skills and helped update my CV. They went out of their way to help me with my confidence towards an interview as I was very nervous. They even got me in touch with Smart Works to get me interview clothes as I hadn’t even thought about what I was going to wear to interview.
As part of the AWA I had met a manger from Legoland and I applied for various vacancies. I then got a call for an interview for a security role and after I attended the interview I was offered the job. I think that if it wasn’t for Abri helping and supporting me, including doing the mock interviews, I might have failed at the interview and not got the job. I was also reassured by George from Abri that if I didn’t get the job with Legoland, they would continue to support me and would help me to find another job.
I’m very happy, and I mean really happy, that I found somewhere that was willing to take me on around my daughters school hours. That was a really big worry for me. I believe I’m going to love my job and enjoy my time working at Legoland. I’ve only done my induction so far but the team I get to work with are amazing, they are such a lovely group of people, I’m really looking forward to working with them and enjoying myself. They are very understanding and are really flexible with me regarding my daughter. I honestly don’t think I will ever find another amazing company like Legoland.
I have no bad points to make about Abri’s Employment Service at all. I love all the staff. They are amazing, they go above and beyond to help find you a job and they actually listen to you and treat you like a human being. They are amazing people and I can’t thank them enough for all the support they have given me and continue to give me.
