New Community Space
We're excited about the opening of the new community space at Sawyers Close. Once we get the green light from planning and development, we'll host an open week. This will include coffee mornings, learning opportunities, clothes and community fridge pop-ups, fitness activities, and more to get feedback and see what the community wants.
What's been happening recently?
Sawyers Close regeneration
In December 2023, overall planning permission was granted by the RBWM planning committee for the redevelopment of Sawyers Close. The redevelopment of Sawyers Close in Windsor, will see the existing buildings demolished and 413 high-quality affordable homes built, both on the existing site and on open space adjacent, transferred to Abri by RBWM.
All of the new homes will be affordable housing (either through reprovision of existing social rented homes, affordable rent or shared ownership) in a mix of apartments, maisonettes and houses.
As well as creating an Action Plan, we've been working on a temporary community space to replace the Pump Room while the works continue.

Good Grub Club
The Good Grub Club is run by Dedworth Library and funded by Abri. It’s all about providing low-cost meal ideas that taste great during the school holidays, while getting families cooking up delicious meals together.
Energy Efficient Cooking
Our Energy Efficient Cooking course is provided by Community Chef. The course is designed to teach people how to use slow-cookers to create easy, healthy meals on a budget.
Wildlife Trust Events
The Berks Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust hosted two outdoor sessions during May half-term. One session aimed to revive the community garden and the other was a family activity event for the budding balcony project.
Uniform Pop-Up Events
In June, we organised uniform pop-up events in collaboration with the Baby Bank. These have been helping families with the cost of school uniforms while being a more sustainable option for the new term too.
