We’ve got a simple mission.
To give people the confidence and skills to find a job. Or start their own business. Or get the training and support they need to take the next steps. It’s all about helping people feel financially secure and independent.
Not everyone is born with the same opportunities. But we can help level the playing field. We believe it doesn’t matter where you’re from. It’s about where you’re going. And we’ve got a whole team to help people get there.
How do we do this?
We’ve already helped 2,000+ people. But in the next five years, we’re going to help at least 2,000 more by:
- Working with local employers.
- Encouraging people to work in our sector. Housing is fantastic. There’s loads of jobs for people with all interests and skills.
- Working with schools, colleges and universities to create training, job and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Creating new products and services
- Continuing to provide our CREATE self-employment course and I2A offer
CREATE self-employment course (Increase VS)
Stop thinking, start creating...
Our CREATE course is a free self-employment training programme. It helps people turn an idea into a real, successful business.
It’s typically a 10-week course. But at the moment, we are running online webinars. It runs over four workshops lasting 3.5 hours in length. And it covers everything from initial research to formulating a business plan.
Participants get:
- 10-week training programme
- One-to-one mentoring
- Two years post-course support
- Opportunities to sell and promote your products at market place stalls organised by Radian
- Get expert advice about your ideas
- Take the next steps with your business or self-employment idea
- Online helpdesk
- Access to a team of experts
Participants will learn:
- How to research their market
- Do financial forecasting, taxation, insurances and legal issues
- Market and brand themselves or their business
- Produce goods and supply them to businesses
- Create an effective business model
- Present their business to an audience
CREATE is part of Project Increase VS which aims to tackle unemployment by supporting a sustainable pipeline of small businesses in 38 neighbourhoods that will benefit local economies and households. Over a five year period, 4,900 unemployed people will pass through the training. And it will create up to 1,200 new businesses and help a further 2000 into work.
The project is co-funded by the Interreg France (Channel) England programme with a European Regional Development Fund contribution of £7.1 million.
We’re pretty proud of the course. It’s only been possible thanks to a grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This funding has been given alongside significant funding from us. Together the funds are financing a project called Increase Valorisation Sociale. And the course falls under this project.
