Additional services for older people
We’ve got loads of specialist support services for older people. We want to help people stay independent for as long as possible.
Life is more fun with friends. And we think everyone deserves to feel part of something. So we help older people make the most of their community.
We’re not picky. You don’t have to be living in one of our independent living properties to access some of our services. Anyone in the community can get in touch. Because everybody deserves to be helped.
Funding and Grants
Ever had a light bulb moment and thought of a way to solve an issue in your community? The best ideas often come from experience. When you live somewhere, you know what is needed. What problems people are facing. What an area is missing. We give grants and funding to help.
You can get funding for your education. And you can get funding for your community.
Need help to hold an event?
Want to run a new club?
Are you working on a project?
Are you trying to learn a new skill?
Need a laptop to help with your studies?
Does your community group need some extra cash?
You don’t have to be a customer to apply for funding.
So long as you’re helping the community, we’re all ears.
Help @ Home
Our Help@Home team provide tailored support in the south west.
Looking for a more bespoke service? You’re in luck. It's a really adaptable service and works on a ‘pay for what you use’ basis. Services the team can provide include:
- cleaning
- laundry
- shopping
- light garden duties
- light removal services
- pet care
- social interaction
- shopping trips.
Meal Service
Healthy, well-balanced meals. Different daily food options. Seasonal twists. What’s not to like?
Our two-course lunchtime meal service is available in nine of our extra-care schemes. It’s available to all residents, and the community too.
Family, friends and neighbours are always welcome!
Alarm Services
We’ve got a couple of different alarm options. The team can let you know which ones are available in each property.
Personal Alarms
Available in most of our properties. Personal alarms include:
- A main unit which sits by the phone
- A portable pendant worn on the wrist or around the neck
- Operates 24/7
- Are contactable at the press of a button, via a loudspeaker in the home.
- Has no minimal sign-up period and a low weekly charge.
Independent Living Officer response
Available in our other properties. Our Independent Living Officers will respond to emergency alarm calls when on site. When they’re off site, we’ve got an emergency alarm monitoring team who answers calls. So there is someone to respond 24/7.
Guest rooms
Got guests? No problem.
Lots of our schemes have guest rooms. We do ask for a minimal fee. Speak to us to find out which ones, and for more info.
Further support from dedicated officers
If we can help, we will. We can give advice on:
- Budgeting and money management
- Benefits and help with forms
- Learning and developing essential life skills
- Signposting to other available agencies
- Tenancy related advice, including rent arrears and nuisance issues.

Adaptations, Mutual Exchange and Downsizing
Adaptations, mutual exchange, downsizing. You name it, our Occupational Therapists can help.
First they’ll chat about your needs. Then they’ll make sure a property is exactly what you need.
